About Sobar

Sobar has long been established as the Premier Student Bar in Bevois Valley. Many moons ago, the building started life as a small Locals pub called The Albion.

Then at the turn of the millenium, the Albion became The Study, and concoctions like the Bloody Study were invented (it's still the biggest seller!). Then a few more years passed, and with the further development and expansion of The Study, The Sobar was born. Sobar firmly established itself as the main Pre Club bar in the Valley for the student masses.

In March 2007, the management changed to the current manager (Justin), with the new Owner (Neville) taking on the lease in October 2007. Justin and Neville had the vision to turn Sobar from a thriving Student Bar, into a thriving Student Led Nightclub, without losing the strong local trade.

Sobar is now respected and known as one of the city's newest nightclubs with a strong mix of student and young professional clientele. Sobar is known as a student Club for 2nd, 3rd and 4th Years who want to escape the freshers who frequent the other student venues on the valley, (although all you freshers are welcome with open arms).

Historically, Sobar has been Southampton University only, but this year we have seen a massive increase of Solent Students frequenting the Sobar, as they search for something different from the same old student nights on offer at other clubs. Such is Sobar's reputation, Sobar has secured the High Tide Runaground event for the second year in succession with other events like Emmotive and My name is, returning year after year.
